Duncan Wall studied as a Fulbright scholar at France’s École Nationale des Arts du Cirque de Rosny-sous-Bois. He is the author of The Ordinary Acrobat, an investigation into the state of the circus today.
As a performer he has danced with Jane Comfort, Pearson-Widrig company, and the Headwaters Dance Company. From 2003 to 2007, he was the co–artistic director of The Candidatos, an acclaimed clown-theater company that performed nationally and internationally, including appearances at Lincoln Center, HERE Arts, and the Samuel Beckett Theater in Dublin, Ireland.
He currently teaches circus history and criticism at the National Circus School of Montreal and serves on the board of directors for the American Youth Circus Organization.
With John Ellingsworth, editor of Sideshow Circus Magazine, he directs CRKO, a digital collective of writers, designers, developers, photographers, and filmmakers with the mission of bringing circus into the digital age.
