This past August, Circus Now curated an evening of emerging contemporary circus work in America in conjunction with SummerStage, New York City’s annual summer parks event series. The show was performed at Richard Rogers Amphitheater in NYC and featured the Hybrid Movement Company,  Acroarts Productions, and the Frequently Asked Questions Collective.  The evening, which was part of a a three night showcase of international contemporary circus work, was hosted by New York circus stalwarts, the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus.Circus Now had the largest crowd of the three day festival, and the festival saw some of the largest crowds of the summer!  The event was free to the public, and an estimated 1700 people saw the show.

A note from Monique Martin, Summerstage Director of Family Programming:

“Circus Now brought knowledge, an enthusiastic network, and a vision to our first annual International Contemporary Circus Festival. The partnership exceeded my expectation, and I look forward to exploring future collaborations with this vibrant organization who within a short time has already established itself as an invaluable resource.”

A note from FAQ, one of the performing companies:

“FAQ is such a young company and we are so lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Circus Now. Finishing our 2013 summer tour at Marcus Garvey park was an incredible way to end a years worth of work. We were able to get in, bring some laughter and show NYC that FAQ is proud to blend contemporary and traditional circus. Circus Now provided us with an amazing platform to spread the joy circus and we hope to continue working with them for years to come!”

Circus Now would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the performers, organizers, and all who attended the event.
