This January the American circus arts headed to Chicago for the inaugural Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival, the first national festival in US history dedicated to elevating the perception of and promoting the artistic view of circus performance in America.

As part of the festival, Circus Now presented the Circus Now Series, an unprecedented series of 23 professional and participatory sessions, to help educate, inspire, and connect the US community.

The sessions, which were held at the festival’s gorgeous and massive Athenaeum Theater, included practical workshops with industry leaders, panel discussions regarding the present and future state of the circus, networking sessions to help community members connect, and open discussion spaces for creative collaboration.

Over 200 people from all over the country attended the Circus Now events at the Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival. To see a complete schedule of the Circus Now Series, click here. To see photos from our series, click here.

“Circus Now’s series brought the best minds in circus together for inspiring panel discussions, informative workshops and fun get-togethers.  Circus geeks from around the world converged to brainstorm and socialize.  This is what makes a conference successful, and this is what builds a community.” — Shana Kennedy, Founding Director, Philadelphia School of Circus Arts

We on the CN team would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to everyone who helped make CN@CCCF a success, specifically our panelists and presenters, volunteers, the festival organizers, Northwestern University, and the staff at the Athenaeum Theater.

And we’d especially like to thank everyone who attended. You made the event possible! We had a blast in Chicago, and hope to see you all there again next year.
