From July 10-13, Circus Now lands in Montreal for a series of special events at Montreal Completement Cirque, the biggest, baddest circus festival in North America. CN@MCC will 4 days of shows, shindigs, talks, and tours, with the aim of giving American circus practitioners, professionals, and fans an inside look at the circus culture in Montreal, a world capital for the art.
This January Circus Now headed to Chicago for the first ever Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival, the first national festival in US history dedicated to elevating the perception of and promoting the artistic view of circus performance in America, to present CN Ideas, an unprecedented series of 23 professional and participatory workshops, to help educate, inspire, and connect the US circus community.
January 2014, Circus Now hosted Speaking Circus Chicago, an hour long seminar for Chicago-area journalists and presenters, and the second in our national series. Through presentations and discussions with contemporary circus artists, experts, and advocates, the event supplied journalists with the tools and contexts to better understand contemporary circus in an environment of rich critical exchange.
On October 24, as part of the Next Wave Festival, CN National Director Duncan Wall gave a talk on the rise of contemporary circus and the state of the art today at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM).
This past August, in conjunction with The New Victory Theater and City Parks SummerStage, Circus Now hosted Speaking Circus, a half-day seminar for New York area journalists.
In conjunction with Summerstage, New York City’s annual summer parks event series, Circus Now curated an evening of emerging contemporary circus work in America.
