Momentum Aerial & Acrobatic Troupe is Winnipeg’s premiere aerial circus arts performance company, offering aerial choreography on silks, hoop, trapeze, rope, slings, and harness for gala events and full-scale original productions.  Past events include concerts with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the World Gymnaestrada in Portugal, Austria, and Switzerland, annual appearances at Winnipeg’s Mardi Gras, Nygard International fashion shows, the Juno Awards banquet, and original productions of Dreamquest, Nakbani, Masquerade, and Seeking Grace.

Momentum’s home training studio, Monica’s Danz Gym, offers training in aerial arts for all ages and levels from beginner to professional.

Artistic Director & Choreographer Monica Goermann knows first hand what it takes to achieve excellence. She was a seven-year member of the Canadian National Gymnastics Team and the 1980 Olympic Team. Monica competed as a gymnast in Japan, China and most of Europe as a member of the Canadian National Team. She also worked in Central America as a choreographer and coach for the Guatemalan National Team. This incredible journey greatly influences her choreography and teaching style in her studio, Monica’s Danz Gym, which she established in 1993, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Aerial Director Liz Cooper is an independent professional modern dancer, aerial artist, choreographer, and certified Stott Pilates instructor who began ignoring gravity as a child by jumping on the bed, swinging off the monkey bars at school, and training in gymnastics and martial arts for many years.  She began performing aerial circus arts in 2001 and helped establish the aerial training program at Monica’s Danz Gym. Liz has also received additional aerial training from instructors in Toronto, at the Aerial Dance Festival in Boulder, Colorado, and at Circus Juventas in Minneapolis.  In addition to choreographing and performing with Momentum, Liz has also been a guest performer with NAfro Dance Productions, Bolero Dance Theatre, and Manohar Performing Arts.
