Circus Smirkus is a non-profit, award-winning international youth circus founded in 1987 with a mission to promote the skills, culture and traditions of the traveling circus and to inspire youth to engage in life-changing adventures in the circus arts.
Our programs include our flagship Big Top Tour, starring kids aged 10-18, the only touring youth circus in the country that travels with its own Big Top tent. Smirkus Camp, our residential circus-arts training program conducted in a traditional summer camp setting in real Big Top tents. And our Smirkus School Residencies bring the magic and excitement of circus to make school curriculum come alive.
At Circus Smirkus, we believe that the universal allure of the performing arts — and circus in particular — helps children form friendships and bonds that transcend the barriers of economic situation, class, culture, geography, age and ability. We see circus as a non-competitive art form in which anyone can participate, and behind which the driving force is the desire to better oneself.
